Most people understand the concept of posting things on social media but the question is, ‘What is it about the things that you post that gets people interested in you?’ There are a lot of different ways to get engagement on social media for your brand, but only a few ways to get the positive reactions needed to turn viewers into customers and supporters.
- Ask yourself the right questions and define your goals.
Sometimes it can be difficult to get started when you have no experience dealing with social media platforms, or are not sure where to begin. Having a solid plan, objectives, and goals are imperative if you want to jumpstart your social media strategy. Your social media goals should align with your overall marketing efforts.
When getting started with branding on these platforms, ask yourself these questions: What are my goals for my business? Can my business benefit from a social media strategy? Who is my target market? Are these people on social media? These are the first questions that any business that wants to gain a social media presence should be asking.
2.Identify who your Audience is.
After you’ve outlined your goals, you need to focus specifically on your target audience. A great feature of social media is its ability to target customers and supporters based on their likes, interests, and recent searches. This works in your favor because nearly all people have some form of social media! Think about what your brand stands for and what types of customers you want to attract. Then use that knowledge to key in on interests and demographics that would fit your brand culture.
- Be intentional with the content you create. And understand these key analytics
Connecting with your target audience is way more than just putting out good content. If your following on Instagram is predominantly male, selling clothing to women could prove to be challenging if you don’t have a plan. Using the same methodology on Facebook would yield completely different results. Strategic social media marketing is very important because it is very easy to spend ad dollars on social media and not see a return.
Be Creative: Creativity goes a long way. Ask yourself if you are tired of seeing the same things as a consumer. Brainstorm ways to reach people that are not currently customers.
Be Consistent: Many companies elect to have a third party marketing firms connect with their audience for them, posting daily content that will connect with your audience. There is a balance to being consistent depending on your industry. Posting the same content over and over again can be detrimental to long term growth. However, posting original content often can help you reach new customers and re-engage current customers.
